This page explains practical decisions from available sources. QuestBase has not performed first-hand testing of this specialization. Exact talent trees, best-in-slot gear and damage rankings remain unverified after the October 1 Beta update.
Destruction in the Level-30 Beta
Destruction still has the shared Warlock tools: demons, curses, drains, Healthstones and ongoing effects. Its distinction is the greater weight of direct casts. That makes positioning and threat visible parts of the playstyle: a spell that cannot finish before movement begins loses value.
The September reference guide discusses Ruin, Conflagrate, Shadowburn and other Beta talents, but their exact tuning and access can change. Blizzard's October 1 notes specifically changed Hellfire so it can critically strike. QuestBase does not infer a finished damage tier from this early cap.

Leveling as Destruction
Use your demon to establish a clean pull, then find a position where you can complete a direct cast without attracting another group. On a durable target, an ongoing effect can still be worth the setup. On a weak target, immediate damage or a wand finish may use fewer resources.
Watch threat as your direct spells land. If a target turns toward you, adjust the pace, use available control or let the demon regain control rather than forcing another cast. Keep Health for emergencies when using Life Tap, and maintain enough Soul Shards for the tools you expect to need.
Check trained ranks and class quests as you level. A level-30 Beta character does not represent the final tree; choose a route that fits the spells your character has actually learned.

The September Beta guide shows a direct-damage talent direction and discusses Fire and Shadow interactions. It was written before the October 1 update. QuestBase has not established that its exact allocation and prerequisites remain valid in the current client.
When reading the live tree, compare improvements to casts you regularly finish, damage during movement, threat control and resource costs. Do not copy an unverified preset or a Legacy-point assumption into a fresh character. The calculator remains a noindex HOLD until the full tree is checked.

Prepare the right demon and let the tank or pet secure the intended target. Choose a relevant curse for a long-lived enemy. Apply Immolate when it will run long enough to contribute, then use direct Fire or Shadow casts in safe windows. Reassess if the target moves, a cast is interrupted or threat changes.
An instant finishing spell may suit a low-Health target, but check its current availability and any resource cost in your spellbook. Use a wand when another expensive cast is unnecessary. Keep Life Tap for safe pauses and avoid spending Health immediately before incoming damage.
For groups of enemies, communicate the pull and stand where area spells will not create a dangerous fight. Hellfire has a documented October 1 critical-strike change; that fact alone does not make it the correct choice in every pack.
Gear, stats and consumables
Match an item to the damage schools you actually use. General spell power applies more broadly than a school-only bonus; Shadow-only damage will not improve Fire casts. Spell hit can prevent wasted time and Mana. Intellect and recovery stats affect how long you can keep casting, while the Life Tap tooltip's Spirit interaction deserves a current-client check.
Avoid presenting a frozen Beta loot list as best in slot. Compare available drops, crafted cloth and wands in your own character sheet, and keep recovery supplies and a Healthstone ready. Exact stat weights and consumable rankings require current testing that QuestBase has not completed.
Destruction questions
Is Destruction only about Fire?
No. The reference Beta material includes both Fire and Shadow direct damage, alongside the shared Warlock toolkit.
Should I cast a damage-over-time spell on every enemy?
Only when the enemy is likely to live long enough for that cast to contribute.
Is a level-30 damage ranking available?
No verified QuestBase ranking is published for the current Beta.
