This page explains practical decisions from available sources. QuestBase has not performed first-hand testing of this specialization. Exact talent trees, best-in-slot gear and damage rankings remain unverified after the October 1 Beta update.
Demonology in the Level-30 Beta
A Demonology pull begins with a practical question: which demon helps this encounter? A sturdier companion can take pressure off a solo player; another demon may offer more damage or a useful response to a caster. The choice depends on the enemies in front of you, not on a universal pet ranking.
The September Icy Veins Beta guide describes Demonic Energies, Fel Vitality and related talent interactions as ways to support a companion. Blizzard's later notes and known-issues list also flag pet-scaling display and a Voidwalker Sacrifice correction. Those changes mean QuestBase does not treat early Beta damage comparisons as settled.
At a glance
- Demon-centered ranged damage
- Pet survival, threat and positioning
- Solo comfort and group utility
Leveling as Demonology
Send the demon to the intended enemy and give it a moment to establish the pull before committing to heavier casts. Watch the route it takes: a pet moving through a neighboring pack can turn a safe fight into several fights. Recall it when necessary, and keep attack and follow commands easy to use.
Your own Health and Mana still limit the route. Life Tap can refill Mana at a Health cost, but a wounded demon may also need care. Check both resource bars before the next pull. Train new spell ranks, complete relevant demon quests, keep a few Soul Shards available and use a wand when another full spell is unnecessary.
In a group, avoid making the pet compete with the tank for threat. A controlled demon, timely Healthstone and the right curse can be more valuable than forcing a speculative damage sequence.

The referenced September guide presents two different early-tree goals: easier application of Corruption or deeper investment in demon survival. That is useful as a description of the trade-off, but its exact point counts, node positions and prerequisites have not been rechecked by QuestBase against the October 1 Beta client.
Consider whether your current fights are limited by casting flexibility, pet durability, resummoning time or the Warlock's own survival. Read the live talent tooltips before spending points. We will publish a point-by-point tree only after every rank and dependency can be verified end to end.

Start with the correct demon present. Direct it at the intended target; in solo play, allow it to establish threat. Use a curse that fits the encounter and apply ongoing damage only when the target will live long enough. Continue casting while monitoring the demon's Health, Mana and position.
Use a drain or Healthstone when you need Health. Life Tap is a way to exchange Health for Mana, not a reason to leave yourself vulnerable. Finish weak enemies without spending an unnecessary large cast, and replenish Soul Shards when the route permits. If the demon dies or changes targets, reassess before continuing the sequence.
For multiple enemies, control pet movement and group threat first. Rain of Fire and Hellfire are available in the reference Beta discussion, but safe placement and your own Health matter more than copying an area-damage opener. Blizzard's October 1 notes state that Hellfire can now critically strike.
Gear, stats and consumables
Look for caster stats that help your spells and compare them with the actual performance of your current demon. The Beta known-issues record says pet scaling is not fully explained on the character sheet, so a precise gear-to-pet formula would be premature. General spell power, reliable spell hit, Mana capacity and survivability are sensible comparison points without claiming a final priority order.
Bring enough recovery for both longer pulls and unexpected pet damage. A usable wand, Healthstone and appropriate Soul Shards have clear utility. QuestBase is holding exact best-in-slot items and consumable rankings until the current Beta drops and numbers are verified.
Demonology questions
Which demon should I use?
Choose for the encounter: protection, damage or utility. Test its actual behavior in the current Beta and manage its position.
Is Soul Link required?
The September reference guide discusses it, but QuestBase has not verified the current tree. Do not assume an older preset is valid.
Why is the talent calculator still on hold?
Node ranks, prerequisites and grid positions have not all been verified against the October 1 client.
Sources and current limits
Last source check: October 3, 2026. The Blizzard October 1 Beta notes and known issues control patch-specific statements. The Icy Veins Demonology guide, dated September 17, supplies a third-party comparison for topic coverage; its exact builds and item rankings are not presented here as verified current advice.
October 3 update: Added this original specialization article and connected it to the Warlock overview. The talent calculator remains on hold until current-client validation is complete.
