AION 2 Abyss

A map of the confirmed Abyss variants and the rules that change your preparation.

01 / THE MAP

One name, several rule sets

RESHANTA

Classic Abyss territory

Season 2 expanded activity from Lower to Middle Reshanta and changed Artifact Siege to help address faction power differences.

CHAOTIC ABYSS

Server-side teams

Introduced in March 2026: West and East forces are assigned at server level rather than following Elyos and Asmodian race lines.

UPPER RESHANTA

Chapter 1 variation

Chaotic Upper Reshanta has item-level and combat-power caps and excludes bosses and Artifacts, according to NC.

Do not treat these maps as synonyms. A guide for a faction-based Rift is not automatically advice for Chaotic Abyss, and a gear assumption for ordinary Reshanta may be wrong inside a capped zone.

02 / CHANGES

What NC changed, in order

Middle Abyss and Siege adjustment

Season 2 brought Middle Reshanta encounters and faction-wide Artifact Siege buffs intended to reduce power gaps.

Chaotic Abyss

NC split players into West and East forces at server level, independent of race, and kept Spacetime Rift race-based.

Middle Reshanta island

An Updraft-access island was added where player positions do not appear on the minimap; new Abyss equipment was added through shop and Transfer Crafting.

Chaotic Upper Reshanta

Chapter 1 added a capped zone without bosses or Artifacts. Those restrictions materially change preparation.

03 / FIELD CHECK

Before entering the Abyss

01

Name the exact mode

Confirm whether the activity is standard Reshanta, Chaotic Abyss, Chaotic Upper Reshanta or a Spacetime Rift.

02

Read the current rules

Check the live cap, objective and team assignment before reusing a gear or class plan.

03

Plan around visibility

In the Middle Reshanta island area, NC says players are absent from the minimap. Travel and scouting decisions matter there.
