Unlock and inspect recipes first
The Horadric Cube belongs to the Lord of Hatred systems and is unlocked through that campaign. Open the recipe list in the current client before selecting an expensive item. Different recipes change different properties, so identify the exact output and restrictions instead of assuming every transmutation is a generic reroll.
Separate value rerolls from base-affix rerolls
Blizzard's Season 15 update introduced an Affix Value Reroll that protects Greater Affixes, enchanted affixes, Tempers and eligible Transfigurations while changing base values. Another recipe randomizes base affixes on Charms and Seals. The terms matter: preserving a special property is different from preserving an ordinary base roll.
Consider the direct Mythic upgrade
The official season overview describes a direct Unique-to-Mythic conversion that retains affixes and modifications and costs more than other Mythic routes. It cannot be used on an Unmodifiable item. Before using it, confirm both the desired input and its eligibility; the most expensive recipe is not automatically the best use of materials.
Decide by the slot's actual deficit
Use a reroll only if the potential improvement addresses a known build problem. Compare the current item with a realistic replacement, not an imaginary perfect roll. If the build is missing resource sustain or defensive uptime, a small damage-affix improvement may barely affect the activity you are trying to clear.
Record the result and its cost
Keep a note of what property changed, what was protected and what material was spent. This makes later choices more rational and helps detect when a guide describes an older recipe. The official maintained patch record remains the authority for changed eligibility and bugs.
