Diablo IV Classes

Compare all eight classes by role, mechanics, access and play rhythm.

Last updated 2026-10-06 · Season 15 context

Choose by combat rhythm

The eight classes differ in target range, resource planning, defenses and expansion access. Open a class for its actual mechanic, leveling plan and bossing limitations before choosing a build.

These are class identities, not a claim that one class is permanently strongest. Season 15 balance and item interactions belong to the maintained patch record.

BarbarianA weapon-focused warrior for players who enjoy managing an Arsenal, Fury and the space around their target.DruidA nature caster and shapeshifter whose best starting decision is which form or spell family to make the center of the character.NecromancerCoordinate undead allies, corpse availability and Essence around a focused damage plan.PaladinA holy warrior whose Oath connects shield combat, judgement or angelic transformation to a deliberate combat loop.RogueBuild a purposeful attack rhythm around positioning, Energy and a chosen Specialization.SorcererShape elemental spellcasting around Enchantment triggers, Mana sustain and safe attack windows.SpiritbornAn agile martial class whose Guardian choices let you organize attacks and support around the Spirit Hall.WarlockAn infernal caster who coordinates Wrath, Dominance and a Soul Shard to turn demons and forbidden magic into a coherent attack plan.

What to compare

Start with the action you will repeat in ordinary fights, then check the resource needed to repeat it. A class with impressive peak damage can still feel uncomfortable when its recovery loop does not match your preferred pace.

Check the expansion label on Paladin, Spiritborn and Warlock. Then compare the class's survival tools and whether its best available skills work during movement-heavy encounters.

Sources and verification

Official Blizzard material establishes named mechanics and access. QuestBase labels progression and build advice as editorial judgment. Exact live values should be checked in the client and maintained patch record.
