Your First Hour in WoW Forever
Set your ruleset and faction with friends first; then learn your class in the starting zone before making a long trip.

Before you create the character
Agree on a ruleset and faction with anyone you plan to level beside. A convenient class choice cannot fix a server or faction mismatch after you have started. If your group is trying Hardcore, discuss how much risk everyone actually wants to take before choosing it.
- Choose the same ruleset and faction as your group.
- Pick a class for the role and playstyle you want, rather than a provisional Beta ranking.
- Check the Race & Class Finder before settling on a character combination.
- If a specific full name matters to you, review the official two-part naming and early-reservation rules before creation; reservation is optional and eligibility is limited.
The first ten levels
Stay in a suitable starting zone long enough to learn your basic abilities and the route between quests, vendors and the class trainer. A Skyborne character can begin on Zephras Isle; other characters can use their faction's familiar starting areas. Train useful new ranks when available, and keep a little room in your bags before leaving town.
- Take nearby quests together so party members remain on the same chain.
- Try each new ability on ordinary enemies before committing to a talent plan.
- Collect a nearby flight path when your route naturally reaches it.
What to decide at level 10
Talents open at level 10 in the current Forever design. The right first point depends on your class and whether you are mostly questing alone, healing or tanking with friends, or testing a Beta build. Use a class overview to understand the three specialization directions; do not copy an old Classic tree blindly.
- Open your class guide and compare its roles.
- Check the current talent calculator's verification status before treating a tree as final.
- Use the level planner to select your next zone and dungeon window.
What can wait
You do not need a perfect profession pairing, a permanent build or an optimal dungeon route in the first hour. The Beta is changing. Pick an activity you enjoy, note the questions you want to test, and revisit the guide when you reach the next level band.
